A Customer Relationship Management Platform in the Cloud


Working in Cognizant Technology Solutions Spain (https://www.cognizant.com/) from April 2016, I have had the opportunity to meet one of my favorite hobbies in the cloud so far; it is named Salesforce.com (SFDC). (Official Website: www.salesforce.com).

 Salesforce.com is a platform located in the cloud and allows provide Customer Relationship Management in an easily.  It works with coherence and with sense, so that everybody can use it without the ability of having any kind of typing code or computing knowledge (although having some idea about typing code in JavaScript, html5 or APEX is a clear advantage to improve customer satisfaction) . Customers using Salesforce.com say that is the innovative company behind the world´s number 1 CRM  Solution. Its software is cloud-based, so it  does not require a team of IT experts to set up or manage, so you just log in and start using it.

To start using it, it can be in a free way, just use a Developer Account and, yes, you get it. (https://developer.salesforce.com/ )and  click on Sign Up, you can create a Developer Account to practice and start using Salesforce.com for free, just with one email address and one password. (Please, make sure that the above URL is the right one as URLs can be changed by the companies in charge of that).

 Salesforce CRM is a potential and surprising platform which provides help you manage your customer relationships, integrate with other systems or softwares, and build your own applications.
The system offers a broad suite of CRM applications for small, midmarket and enterprise organizations, with a focus on sales and support.

 Salesforce offers vertical solutions for a wide variety of industry-specific solutions. The applications are created on the Force.com platform, a modern architecture that provides increased flexibility and scalability for organizations of any size.
The Salesforce app has capabilities that include sales management, marketing automation, partner relationship management and customer service.

Some functional features that you can create using Salesforce are:

  1. Create users with different profiles and roles (based on role hierarchy) depending on the organization's requirements giving them different tasks and activities, permissions... within the company. 
  2. Standard Sales Processes which help your organization to sell more and more efficiently spending less time (Use your time for what you are focused on inside of your company, Salesforce can do the rest for you).
  3. It can be used with mobile devices and tablets and responsively. 
  4. You can manage relationships and data with records and create reports and dashboards showing the most useful information for your customer, employees, shareholders and the rest of your stakeholders. 
  5. Find information with Search using filters and fields, so that the results will be more matched with your search.
  6. Increasing company value with the new, fast, beautiful user experience from Salesforce (Lightning). With a sales-centric mindset, it is focused on reinventing the desktop environment to better support your sales process. The result is an intuitive, intelligent interface that helps sales reps work more naturally and close more deals faster. 
  7. Constantly Salesforce provides training which help you to be updated and increasing your Salesforce skills in order to provide more value to the customers. 
  8. Of course, you can import and export data in different formats and manage these data results. Related to that, you are able to manage duplicate records in Salesforce, manage access security and monitor your organization. 
  9. Configure Salesforce Mobile Apps and install packages and manage apps in AppEXchange

Salesforce has an integrated Marketing area which allows you: increase your sales success, manage the people and organizations you sell to, campaigning and generating leads, managing activities, opportunities, and products, improve your performance with work.com, create quotes and document contracts, managing and tracking your customer's orders, forecasting sales, selling via multiple channels, using Salesforce-Integrated Email, make and receive calls with voice...
  11. Working with Force.com you should be able to increase your sales in short term thanks to: setting up and maintaining Sales features, administering people and organizations that users sell to, setting options for selling...
  12. After selling, one of the most important things is keeping customers´satisfaction because a happy customer will drive your sales growth, that´s for sure. So, using other Salesforce features, you will have the opportunity to track customer inquiries, resolve customer inquiries, create and verify service agreements, access knowledge, use unified help desks and use social customer service
  13.  And related to the above, you can also set up and maintain customer support tools throughout setting up customer channels, support agent experience, automating contact centers, adding entitlements, service agreements, and work orders. More features like: adding a knowledge base, organizing articles, answers and ideas into categories, case teams and queues, adding social customer service and reporting on support activity are available as well.
  14. One atmosphere like that would not be enough in this world without taking account the open sources available and communities which allow share comments and issues among community users so that they can find out the solutions what they are looking for. Using Salesforce you will have the possibility to collaborate within your company, with partners and customers... You will learn how to set up and manage salesforce communities, plan your implementation, provide community security and authentication, design and page management, community templates, customize templates with community builder. In addition, you will be able to manage the communities, create reports and dashboards about the information related to the community and provide education to yours users about communities. 
  15. Start becoming familiar with the tools to keep maintaining collaboration: Salesforce chatter, Files, Files Sync, Files Connec, Chatter Desktop, Chatter Licenses, Salesforce CRM Content, Google Apps...
  16. Use Wave Analytics (a cloud-based platform) for connecting data from multiple sources, creating interactive views of that data, and sharing those views in dashboards.
  17.  Salesforce lets you personalize your object model with features like custom fields, page layouts, and validation rules. That means enhance your objects, data and fields. In addition you can automate your business processes and create websites. Doing this you can extend the reach of your organization, create apps, create custom mobile apps...
  18. Having knowledge in JavaScript and APEX is useful to enhance Salesforce and will be an advantage.  You can enhance your organization by developing custom applications and integrating your external applications. 
    1. Writing Code: We use APEX programing language to add business logic or use the Visualforce markup language to create the user interface. In addition, you will find information about integrating your application using APIs and authenticating your external applications. 
    2. Debugging your code: Debug your application using the Developer Console. 
    3. Testing your changes: Test your APEX code and work with the test tools. 
    4. Deploy: Deploy your changes to another organization using change sets and other tools. 
  19. Before using a production environment, it is highly recommended to use pre-production environment to test your organization. So, that is what you can do through Sandbox. Here, you can deploy your changes.
